James Ervin is a Combat Medic turned healthcare professional and nonprofit CEO whose career has been defined by service across military and civilian hospitals. After enlisting in the U.S. Army, he trained as a combat medic and lab technician, serving in major medical facilities including Madigan Army Medical Center and Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, where he supported large-scale operations during the Global War on Terror.
Following his medical discharge and later disability due to service-related PTSD and health complications, James experienced firsthand the life-changing role of service dogs. When access and cost barriers became personal, he founded Dogs before Bullets, a nonprofit dedicated to providing free service dogs and training resources for first responders and veterans, empowering them to regain independence and purpose through support, dignity, and care.
